In the evening, there was a Banquet at Turku Castle.
Åbo Akademi University holds the doctoral conferment ceremony roughly every other year. The university invites all those who have completed their doctoral degree at Åbo Akademi University and have not yet participated in the conferment ceremony. In the ceremony, the doctoral conferees receive the outward signs of the title: the doctoral hat, diploma and, in certain faculties, a doctoral sword or other insignia.
