The climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Nevertheless, the development of future solutions, for example in energy supply, is already well underway and will provide us with the tools to avert the crisis. This cannot, however, be achieved without knowledge, understanding and young people who want to work on developing a more sustainable future.
The project Climate Change and the Finnish Business Sector aims to:
- highlight technological development and activities in industry related to climate change and sustainability and to link these to school education
- increase the interest in science and mathematics
- reduce climate related and anticipatory anxiety among young people, and to increase their motivation and faith in the future
- introduce the business sector and the surrounding society in school education in a positive way.
Within the project, the escape room “Save the World” has been developed for students to solve tasks related to climate change and sustainability together. In addition to the escape room, the participants are given the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Skolresurs’ business ambassador Sonja Enestam. In the lecture, the contents of the escape room are linked to key issues regarding climate change and sustainable future energy solutions. This material package also serves as teacher training in class, during lessons.
See the presentation of the escape room in the video below (created for the Science on Stage festival held in Turku in August 2024).
The project managers are Anna Pomoell, teacher of mathematics, physics and chemistry, and business ambassador Sonja Enestam
