Our daily lives and our identities are informed by cultural customs, traditions, rituals and our relationship with the material aspects of life. In Cultural Analysis, students examine cultural patterns in daily life and how they change. Students of Cultural Analysis will gain an understanding of how people’s behaviour, narratives and conceptual worlds are culturally formed. This will help you understand the ways that different people think. Cultural Analysis combines historical and present-day perspectives and makes use of sources such as material objects, interviews and field work, archive materials and popular culture materials. As a student of Cultural Analysis, you will be analysing the culture of your surroundings by observing and analysing cultural phenomena in order to understand the mechanisms of cultural encounters and conflicts.
