Transport

The main event will take place at Åbo Akademi’s Arken building, located near the Aura River at Tehtaankatu 2.

Arriving by train from Helsinki: the main train station is Kupittaa, from where the distance to Arken is 1.4 km (18 minutes walk).

Arriving by train from Tampere: the main train station is Turku Central Railway Station (distance to Arken 1.9 km, about 25 minutes walk) or Logomo (distance to Arken 1.7 km).

Arriving by bus: the distance from Turku bus station to Arken is 1,0 km. Buses from Helsinki and Hämeenlinna also stop at the Hämeentie/University and Tuomiokirko express bus stops, from where it is a slightly shorter walk to Arken.

Local busses

You can find the timetables of Turku’s local transport in the Föli route guide (works in the app or in the browser). You can buy your ticket directly from the bus (with contactless payment or cash) or from the Föli app.

Bus stop 144 is located in front of Turku Central Railway Station, where bus lines 32 and 42 stop at Tuomiokirkkotor, which is 700 metres from Arken.

Taxis

In Turku, you can use services such as 02 Taksi (tel. 020230 or app), Lounais-Suomen Taxidata (tel. 0200 10041 or app) or Menevä (tel. 0800 02120 or app/browser).

Parking

There is a very limited number of parking spaces on campus. They are subject to a fee (mobile payment).

Accomodation

There are plenty of hotel options in Turku’s city centre, within walking distance of Arken and Restaurant Kåren, where the Science Days evening party will be held. The closest hotels to Arken in the city centre are Scandic Julia (+358 300308423, julia@scandichotels.com) and Centro Hotel (+358 2 2118100, centro@centrohotel.com).

For those arriving by train from Helsinki, a convenient hotel option is the Original Sokos Hotel Kupittaa (010 786 6000, kupittaa.turku@sokoshotels.fi), which is connected to Kupittaa railway station. For those arriving by bus, the Hotel Helmi (+358 20 786 277020, hotellihelmi@hotellihelmi.fi), next to the bus station, is a convenient option.

There are plenty of AirBnB options in Turku, as well as self-catering accommodation at Forenom Aparthotel Turku and Omena-hotelli Turku.
