Group study rooms
There are bookable group study rooms in ASA Library, Academill and the Book Tower. You can book the ASA Library group study room through Åbo Akademi University’s Peppi (students at Novia in Turku can book the room by contacting staff at ASA Library). If your booking is for the same day, be courteous to anyone occupying the room without a booking. Other group study rooms are booked by reserving a slot on a weekly schedule sheet outside the rooms.
Reading rooms
All library units offer spaces great for individual study. There are quiet reading rooms in the ASA Library, Academill and the Book Tower. Arken Library lacks a dedicated reading room, but makes up for it with plenty of reading desks scattered around a stunning building. The largest reading room (84 seats) is in the Book Tower. The newspaper reading room, also in the Book Tower, is suitable for group study (i.e. the newspaper reading room is not a quiet reading room).
Lockers
Taking a lunch break? No stress, you can lock your books and belongings in a locker for short time storage (1 day). In addition, Book Tower offers its users lockers for long time storage.
Computers
All library units have computers that are at the disposal of Åbo Akademi University and Novia (username@novia.fi) students and staff. Drop in customers at Arken Library, ASA Library, Academill and Book Tower can use a small amount (2-4) computers intended for brief information retrieval and access to ÅAU Library e-resources (at ASA Library and Book Tower access is also provided to Novia e-resources).

Scanning service at the ÅA University Library
The Library offers a scanning service with our camera scanner ArchivePro. In addition to standard formats, we are able to digitize materials that otherwise might be challenging to scan using other tools, such as large formats – up to A1 – as well as materials that are bound or fragile. The image quality meets the standards for digital long-term preservation set by the National Archives of Finland.
The cost of the scanning service covers the work done by our project workers, assisted by the archivists at the ÅAUL. It is for example possible to include a scanning project as part of a research project.
Contact us with your questions and project ideas at biblioteket@abo.fi, and we will assist in planning and scheduling the project.
