The Global Campus of Human Rights (GC) has opened the call for applications for the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA) for the academic year 2024/2025.
EMA is a one-year master’s course aimed at educating professionals in the field of human rights and democratisation. It is open to both EU and non-EU citizens. EMA is both a residential and an exchange programme. The first semester from September 2024 to January 2025 is organised at GC’s premises in Venice, Italy, and the second semester from February to July 2025 takes place in one of the 43 participating universities in Europe. The programme offers a practice and policy-oriented approach to learning that combines legal, political, historical, anthropological, and philosophical perspectives of human rights and democratisation with skill-building activities and a field trip exercise.
The Institute for Human Rights and the Chair of Public International Law at Åbo Akademi University have been hosting 1-3 EMA students each spring term. We also want to encourage Åbo Akademi University students to apply to the programme.
For more information about the EMA programme, admission criteria and application process, please see the programme website.
Please also note the EMA Online Open Day on Wednesday 31 January at 2pm CET. After a short introduction to the programme and its key features, you will have the chance to engage in a Q&A session with representatives of the faculty, staff, students and alumni. To register, please click here.
