Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa 50 got its own jubilee badge
The anniversary committee that planned the anniversary year organised a design competition among the university’s students in spring 2024. The winning entry was submitted by Cecilia Knutar.
500 copies of her badge design were printed and handed out during the student event “Gulnäbbsakademin” in Vaasa (Tuesday 17 September 2024) and other events in autumn 2024.
– I was guided by the colours that were recommended and then I tried to choose the symbols that best fit the different colours. The sky is obviously blue, but the yellow in the building is placed to symbolise the sun that often shines on the building. The sea towers were therefore in shadow, which led to the choice of the red colour,’ says Cecilia Knutar about her design.
The guidelines for the design were that the halo should symbolise Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa and that the institution was celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The colour scheme was to include the main colours of the graphic profile, red and yellow.
The winner was chosen by the anniversary committee and was rewarded not only with the realisation of the halo badge but also with an ÅA-related gift.
Jubilee Breakfast
Åbo Akademi University Student Union organised a joint anniversary breakfast for students and staff, Wednesday 13.11.2024 in Academill. More than 200 people registered for the event.
