Frontiers of Science kicks off spring on 2 February

The spring 2023 Frontiers of Science seminar programme is ready. Frontiers of Science is a 25-year-old seminar series arranged by BioCity Turku, where BioCity Turku researchers invite world-leading scientists to present the latest results from their field of research. The seminars are aimed at both researchers and students and students can get ECT:s for participating.

– This is the first Frontiers of Science seminar series, which has been put together by the new BioCity Turku research programmes, says Professor Klaus Elenius, Scientific Director of BioCity Turku.

– The research programmes were elected last spring and while some of them are familiar from the previous five-year period, there are some new ones on board. It will be exciting to listen to these talks and hear world-leading scientists present their work, Elenius continues.

All Frontiers of Science seminars are held on Thursdays at 12.00 in the BioCity Presidentti Auditorium, unless otherwise stated in the programme. There is no registration fee and coffee and a sandwich will be served before the lecture. If you are a student and wish to earn credits, please print out the student seminar diary and ask the coordinator to sign it after the seminar.

BioCity Turku also offers students and young postdocs a great opportunity to make connections for the future and get inspiration for their own work. After each seminar, the speaker will have lunch with up to six PhD students or early-career postdoc researchers. The lunch is an informal event to discuss science, career development or anything else. BioCity Turku provides the lunch. If you’re interested in participating, please send an e-mail to biocityturku@bioscience.fi.

BioCity Turku is an umbrella organization supporting and coordinating research on life sciences and molecular medicine in University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University.
