Reorganization process at Åbo Akademi University completed
Åbo Akademi University completed its reorganization process on Monday 10 March. In total, the reorganization reduces the staff by 44 employees. Of these, 38 are being made redundant and a further six man-years are being lost through other arrangements. Approximately 110 employees were offered redeployment or changed working conditions within the organisation. The redundancies mainly concerned administrative staff.
The aim of the changes is to create an organisation with a greater focus on core education and research activities, and to enable financially responsible leadership at all levels of the organisation. At the same time, the aim is to achieve permanent savings in staff costs of around 2.9 million euros per year. The new organisation is set to take effect no later than 1 September 2025.
