The 2023-2024 academic year opened in Vaasa

The academic year 2023-2024 at Åbo Akademi University was officially inagurated in Vaasa on Wednesday 6 September 2023.

The programme started in Trefaldighetskyrkan and then continued in Akademisalen with a procession, music and speeches. The participants were welcomed with a speech by Lisbeth Fagerström, Rector of Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa, followed by an inaguration speech by Mikael Lindfelt, Rector of Åbo Akademi University. The student union’s greeting was presented by the chairman of the board Nicolina Nordman and a greeting from the city of Vaasa was presented by Director of Education and Culture Kristina Knookala.

The ceremony also included the awarding of the Ann-Mari Finnilä Prize, studens scholarships and prizes from the fund of Harry Elving.
