The Board of Åbo Akademi University dismisses Rector Moira von Wright

At its meeting in Vaasa on 1 November 2021, the Board of Åbo Akademi University decided to dismiss Rector Moira von Wright. The cause for terminating her employment is the recent crisis of confidence as well as differing views concerning the leadership at Åbo Akademi University. The termination of Moira von Wright’s employment takes effect on 1 November. 

The Board wishes to emphasize that the development processes initiated under the leadership of Moira von Wright, are necessary and that they will continue. 

In the near future Åbo Akademi University will inform about the recruitment process of a new Rector. 

The office of Rector will be temporarily held by Vice-rector Mikael Lindfelt, while Stefan Willför continues as temporary Vice-rector and Lisbeth Fagerström continues as temporary Rector for Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa.
