It is only by taking human rights as guidance that governments can implement policies which prioritize the welfare of the population and help tackle inequalities.
Name: Catherine Silvério Guisso
From: Brazil
Why I chose this programme: The lack of compliance with civil and political human rights is a strong variable that keeps up and enforces inequality in the world. My aim has always been to work in the public sector or the third sector. With a background in public administration and politics I chose the Master’s Degree Programme in International Human Rights Law because I believe that it is only by taking human rights as guidance that governments can implement policies which prioritize the welfare of the population and help tackle inequalities.
The studies: The students in this programme participate in courses where the international legal framework for the protection of human rights is presented. The frameworks of protection at international and regional level are discussed as well as the enforcement mechanisms and applicability of human rights norms. The students can also choose courses related to humanitarian law, immigration, and human rights of specific vulnerable groups.
