The purpose of the OSMO project is to develop the personnel at the Navigators within the field of multicultural knowhow and guidance. Courses, sparring, guidance.
As a part of actualizing the youth guarantee in Finland, a service model for so called “low threshold service” for young people is constructed through Navigators. The Navigator is a service spot that offers young people under 30 years personal guidance and counselling, support in life competence, vocational counselling, development of social skills and support for education and employment. The Navigator also has young people with migrant background among their customers and in the future, this group of customers will grow even in places where immigration has been insignificant.
OSMO – Multicultural knowhow to the Navigators strengthens the Navigators’ ability to serve customers with migrant background both locally and regionally. This is performed through developing the personnel at the Navigators, and the organizations surrounding them, in multicultural knowhow need- and customer-oriented. Courses and guidance are organized in close cooperation with the project TESSU – Guidance together. In addition to this, within the frames of the project a multicultural toolbox for guidance will be compiled. The toolbox will be available for the Navigators to use even after the project has ended. The toolbox consists of support material for the personnel working with multicultural counselling.
