This project is a sub study in two multidisciplinary cohort studies, The STEPS study and FinnBrain research project. STEPS study is a longitudinal follow-up study of well-being in families living in Southwest Finland, and is coordinated by the Turku Institute for Child and Youth Research (CYRI). The aim of the FinnBrain research project is to study the combined influence of environmental and genetic factors on the development of a child. The aim of the sub study in logopedics is to study the speech and language development of monolingual (Swedish and Finnish) and bilingual (Swedish-Finnish) children and study possible risk factors for disorders in this development. More specific aim is to investigate the effect of different environmental factors in speech and language development of these children and especially the effect of the language environment in language development of bilingual children (Swedish-Finnish).
