Data storage
We manage a local data storage node. It is based on Hitachi AMS2100 and NetApp FAS2552 technologies, and offers currently over 250 TB of storage to share. Access to storage does employ iRODS integrated Rule-Oriented Data System. Management and consultation services are available for all groups on the campus, who would like to use or build storage for themselves.
Computational cluster
The node includes two RX300 S6 servers, each with two Xeon E5620 processors and 72 GB of RAM. These host virtual servers for research groups. Additionally, we have a local HPC cluster of four RX200 S6 servers, each with two Xeon X5675 processors and 24 GB of RAM. Furthermore, we have four VM cluster nodes in CSC’s IaaS ePouta cloud via dedicated 1 Gbps lightpath to CSC’s cluster.
Classroom for molecular graphics
The computer classroom, which has 19 dual boot Windows/Linux computers, is designed for research and education in structural bioinformatics and biology. Classroom has both projector and 75″ TV. The TV supports active 3D stereo.
SBL participates on software consortia arranged by CSC. We do have local installations of Accelrys DiscoveryStudio, Schrödinger Maestro, Cambridge Structural Database, AMBER 12, CCP4 suite, Coot, Phenix, Modeller and Bodil.
