Major subject – Adult Education
Our time is characterised by rapid changes and developments, thus requiring us to constantly deal with new things. Adult Education helps us to meet the challenges and opportunities of adulthood and adult life in our different roles at work and leisure. As a student of Adult Education, you will learn to understand yourself as a person and develop through encounters with other people. You will also learn to support groups and organisations in goal-oriented development processes. As an adult educator, you will master the concepts and methods of adult education, while also being able to challenge and provoke other people to engage in reflection and rethink matters. Your studies will give you an opportunity to specialise in topical social phenomena (active citizenship, social movements and activism) and working-life development needs (on-the-job learning, competence development and professional development).
As a student of Adult Education, you will have a great deal of freedom to broaden and strengthen your competence through your choice of minor subjects and elective studies. Useful minor subjects for a future adult educator include, among others, pedagogical leadership, social policy, public administration, business administration, and management. You can create a unique and attractive professional profile by choosing minor subjects that interest you most and completing your practical training in interesting places. Adult Education is a good choice as a minor subject for social or health scientists, or anyone who is pursuing a multifaceted competence profile and interested in advancing development.
