How can I apply?
The programme is open to those who have a background in chemical engineering or related areas, with sufficient knowledge in mathematics, physics and chemistry. The applicant has completed a lower university degree equivalent to a Finnish B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering or in a corresponding field.
Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of how well the bachelor’s degree corresponds to the programme and on the study merits of the student. Applicants to the Master’s degree programmes taught in English must always prove their knowledge of English.
The best scoring applicants will be selected for the programme. In case several applicants receive the same total points at the threshold of being selected, these applicants will be selected.

Applications for the Master’s Programme are evaluated by the Admission committee of the programme. There is no entrance examination. Admission is granted on the basis of the application.

Accepted students may be required to do a maximum of 20 ETCS study points in case this is required to fulfil compatibility requirements. These studies should be done in parallel to the masters’ studies.
The applicants are selected based on the following criteria:
- Compatibility of background studies: 0-3 points
- Previous academic success: 1-5 points
- Motivation letter: 0-1 points
- Other merits: 0-1 points
The grading of background studies is based on how well its content corresponds to the curricula of a typical bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. A degree in chemical engineering will give 3 points.
The scores in the category previous academic success is based on the GPA of the Bachelor’s degree translated to the Finnish GPA scale. A minimum GPA is required for being accepted and depends on the compatibility of the background studies.
The motivation letter should focus on the reason for applying to the specific program.
Other merits can for example be courses relevant for the programme but not included in the bachelor’s degree or previous work experience relevant for the program and indisputably proven.
