Of course you should go on exchange! With more than 400 partner universities worldwide, Åbo Akademi University offers great opportunities for an international study experience. Exchange studies improve your language skills, and above all, give you memories for life. By getting to know people from other cultures, you learn about yourself and gain the confidence to face new situations. These skills will benefit you throughout your life, not only in the global job market.
Below is a short and simple overview of instructions, so you get an overall perspective of how the process works. Read more about where you can apply and how you can prepare for the application and your stay abroad.
Application deadline
You can apply for exchange studies within the exchange agreements of ÅAU once per year.
The application is filled in and submitted in the application portal SoleMove. You can find more information about the application below.
The deadline for applications for exchange studies during the academic year 2025-2026 is on 31.01.2025 at 15:00.
Information sessions
Do you want to know more about the opportunities for exchange studies? You are warmly welcome to join us during our information sessions about exchange studies! We are arranging four information sessions during the autumn 2024 and early in January 2025.
You don’t need to be present for the entire session, you can come and go according to your own interest. Please note that all sessions are in Swedish, but come and speak to us at the sessions and we can happily tell you more in English.

Do you want to study internationally without going on exchange or sample international studies at home before going abroad?
Now you can apply to participate in a transnational online course from one of our CHARM-EU partner universities! You have the possibility to take part in an international learning experience by studying with students and learning and engaging with professors and lecturers from other CHARM-EU universities, while enhancing your international academic portfolio. The deadline for applications for courses in the spring term 2025 is on 9 December 2024 or 20 January 2025, depending on when the course starts. All students at ÅAU are welcome to apply, there are courses for all levels of studies (bachelor, master and PhD).

Study plan / Learning Agreement
Instructions for editing the Study plan / Learning Agreement:
1. Go to “File” and “Save as” and save the form on your own computer.
2. Press “Enable editing”
3. Press “Fill & sign” + “Add text”
Follow these steps to find feedback from students who have previously gone on exchange:
- Go to SoleMove.
- Select Åbo Akademi University at “Choose institution”, do not log in but select “Exchange destinations Abroad and feedback” at the top of the page.
- Enter Åbo Akademi University as your home unit and click search.
- Click on the university that you want to read feedback about. If the university has a small filled speech bubble in the upper right corner, it means that there is feedback available for this university.
- When you click on a university with feedback, you will find the feedback at the bottom of the page.
